There are a few codes to look for in your style tags. Look for the words comments or friends, or .friendsComments. It'll probably say something like visible: hidden or display:none.

Delete everything that it says between the brackets. It's kind of hard to explain if you don't know CSS.

I THINK you can search for a code that says to display them and have !important so it overrides the other one. But that's only if the other one doesn't say !important. I think you're pretty much on your own here.

You can just add a link so people can see your comments and friends, though. It looks better, in my opinion.
